I'm Sotaro Takahashi
About Me
Born in Kyoto. Studied art and design at Okanagan College and Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Canada. Currently based in Kyoto and Osaka, I focus on shaping consistent brand identities that span from CI/VI and graphics to web and spatial design.
At the heart of my work is the quiet elevation of the inherent philosophy of a place or person, carefully crafting its connection with society. Moving beyond mere visual expression, I pursue design as a memorable experience by layering tactile qualities and the thoughtful use of “Ma” (negative space). Depending on the nature of the project, I collaborate with trusted partners, walking alongside clients from the initial conceptual stages. I place the greatest value on the process of building a world from the ground up.
I aspire to create design with a presence that—without words—stands quietly and speaks volumes of the brand’s identity and thought.

京都生まれ。カナダの Okanagan College、Emily Carr University of Art + Design にてアートとデザインを学ぶ。現在は京都・大阪を拠点に、CI/VI、グラフィック、Webから空間まで、一貫したブランドの世界観をかたちにする活動を続けています。
大切にしているのは、その場所や人が持つ本来の思想を静かに立ち上げ、社会との接点を丁寧に構築することです。視覚表現にとどまらず、手触りや余白といった要素を重ね、記憶に残る体験としてのデザインを追求。 プロジェクトの性質に応じて信頼できるパートナーと連携し、初期構想の段階から並走します。ゼロの状態から世界観を共に立ち上げていく、そのプロセスに何より重きを置いています。
声高に語らずとも、静かに佇むその存在が、ブランドらしさや思想を語ってくれる──そんな佇まいのあるデザインを目指しています。

Alongside my design work, I capture the interplay of light and shadow and the fleeting moments of daily life. For me, observing the rhythm of the streets is a way to sharpen my perspective—a process of giving form to the invisible atmospheres that also define my design.
制作活動の傍ら、日常に潜む光や影、偶然の一瞬を切り取っています。街の呼吸に目を向けることは、私にとって視点を磨くこと。それはデザインの根底にある「空気感をかたちにする」という感覚を研ぎ澄ますことにも繋がっています。
